Well, we have to admit that this has got to be one of the mildest January’s on record. At the accident scene, learn what to look for, what information to gather, rules and regulations of reporting accidents and how to analyze data. Understand how to respond to media both from routine inquires and when school officials are suddenly faced with members of the media.

Michigan Department of Education (MDE)/AdvancED Michigan Spring School Improvement Conference Request for Presentation Proposals

Showcase your school improvement successes by presenting at the MDE/AdvancED Michigan Spring School Improvement Conference, March 30, 2012 at the Lansing Center in Lansing! Presentations should emphasize hands-on, practical information that is directly related to improving student achievement.

National speakers will be featured, along with selected outstanding concurrent sessions conducted by practitioners and featuring what works in schools. If your school has experience with any school improvement topic that supports “Going Digital: Ready, Set, Accelerate” and you want to share your experiences with others, please complete the form at the link below and return by February 10, 2012.

This RFP MUST be completed on line by going to the MIEM website. Paper RFP’s will not be accepted.

Registration for the conference will be available in late January 2012.


Educator Evaluations: Integrating Student Growth Data

February 29, 2012 • Lansing Center, Lansing

Registration and Breakfast 7:30 am

Conference 8:30 am-4:00 pm

This second annual Educator Evaluations: Integrating Student Growth Data conference will highlight peer presentations of successful systems and educator evaluation development and implementation efforts. Presentations will emphasize the following aspects of the educator evaluation system: 1. How student growth data is integrated into effectiveness decisions; 2. The observation protocol/observation rubric utilized; and how multiple measures are incorporated into as single outcome (highly effective, effective, or minimally ineffective).

The conference will feature presentations from districts that have developed an educator evaluation system that contains a strong student growth data component or has developed and/or successfully implemented an observation protocol as part of an evaluation system. There will also be presentations from professional organizations that are currently supporting educator evaluations and the integration of student growth data. The majority of breakout sessions will be from educators themselves.

Multiple sets of concurrent breakout sessions will be held throughout the day.

Cost:  $150
Includes breakfast, lunch, all materials and parking at the Lansing Center. 

SB-CEUs: .6 State Board Continuing Education Units can be awarded to each participant.
