Get an understanding of the major functions of school business officials, how to survive the personal and professional politics of your job, and learn how the Michigan Department of Education and the Michigan Legislature affect education. This is a great opportunity to begin the learning process for new staff or to begin prepping existing staff for greater responsibility. It’s also a great refresher for “veterans” who want a basic review of information. This conference is a required class for certification in the following tracks: Chief Financial Officer, Business Office Manager, School Payroll Specialist, Business Office Specialist and Human Resource Specialist. Overnight accommodations are not included in the registration fee. A block of rooms has been set aside for conference attendees. | Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Mathematics And ELA | |
Last fall, the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) organized a series of regional meetings to introduce Michigan educators to the new Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Mathematics and ELA, and the proposed assessments of these standards. This fall, the MDE is planning another series of regional meetings that build on last year’s introduction by delving deeper into what it takes to prepare students to be Career and College Ready. Topics will range from systems to classroom supports and will include panel discussions as well as voices from the field. Please plan to attend the event scheduled for your area.
Registration information will be posted soon at www.gomiem.org. Do you have something you would like to share at one of the meetings? Please contact Kellie Flaminio (flaminiok@michigan.gov) to request a speaker form. |
