Create Value – Achieve Certification

We know that change is inevitable. Michigan faces incredible economic challenges, which are having a huge impact on our schools. What hasn’t changed is the value that you get by achieving certification. Upcoming events: Intro to School Business Conference in September, the 13th Annual Facilities/ Operations Director Conference, and the 25th Annual Support Staff Conference for Administrative Professionals (information coming soon.)

All of these conferences are great opportunities that will help you expand your knowledge base, skills and confidence. If you have any questions about the School Administrative Profession Certification (SAPC) or MSBO’s 12 certifications, please contact Courtney Byam.

Obtaining certification demonstrates a dedication to your profession. Good luck!

Introduction to School Business Kick Starts Your MSBO Certification
Sept. 21-22, 2011 • Kellogg Center • East Lansing, MI

futureThis conference takes many certification classes and rolls them into an information-packed, two-day event!

Get an understanding of the major functions of school business officials, how to survive the personal and professional politics of your job, and learn how the Michigan Department of Education and the Michigan Legislature affect education. This is a great opportunity to begin the learning process for new staff or to begin prepping existing staff for greater responsibility. It’s also a great refresher for “veterans” who want a basic review of information.

This conference is a required class for certification in the following tracks: Chief Financial Officer, Business Office Manager, School Payroll Specialist, Business Office Specialist and Human Resource Specialist.

Facilities in Focus–13th Annual Facilities/Operations Director Conference
October 2-4, 2011Crystal Mountain Resort, Thompsonville

We must continue to keep our Facilities in Focus - striving to be more efficient and effective. As we head into another school year, we continue to experience tough financial times. Hopefully, we are on the upswing, yet we know that we will still face considerable funding challenges before things level out. Keeping the cuts as far from the classroom as possible remains the major goal - but we should not lose sight of the importance of maintaining all physical facilities that serve our students, staff and community. The 13th Annual Facilities and Operations Directors Conference is intended to help provide ideas and solutions for your department to provide the best services possible, in the most cost effective way, to ensure a safe, healthy environment for all Michigan students.

Let us help you keep your Facilities in Focus at the 13th Annual Facilities/Operations Director Conference.

Stand Out In a Crowd with SAPC Certification

The School Administrative Professional Certification Program (SAPC) is for central office, school building secretaries, and individuals employed in administrative support positions in Michigan schools. Although anyone may benefit from certification, the full program is designed for those in their first five years of employment. MIEM will evaluate the professional development and work backgrounds of those who have substantial experience to determine how much additional training is required prior to granting “Grandparenting” credit for certification.
