We on the MIEM Team are excited about the beginning of another school year. Last year presented all of us with many challenges. Yet, we found that by paying close attention to what those challenges were, listening to those who shared with us what was needed to meet those challenges, and providing professional development in collaboration with MDE and many great presenters and experts, much was accomplished. 2008-2009 appears to be shaping up to be another interesting school year. Our theme this year has us wanting to be a part of your Winning Team. The MIEM Connection is here to help you decide when to call us off the bench and into your game. We know that you are working hard to make a positive difference for the children of our state. Stay in touch with us through our website, the MIEM Connection, calling us, and by talking directly to one of our MIEM Team members at any of our events.

Have a great 2008-2009 school year kickoff.

Dan Pappas
Executive Director MIEM

Various user roles and scenarios will be demonstrated to show users how to navigate through the new system for their individual needs. The new system will ensure the secure collection of individual student record data; provide for maintenance of student records through file uploads, online entry, error check and correction, and automated data exchange; provide reporting of current submission data.

Experienced Curriculum Leaders Series

Specific Outcomes: The planning for the four sessions will be shaped by the following big ideas, ways of working at the central office level, and protocols for the daily work with stakeholders. There are several big ideas that will shape this learning experience: To understand Elmore’s concept of “reciprocal accountability” which balances accountability with support across a system, To understand the impact of generational diversity on the work in schools now and in the near future as our demographics change and impact the way we work, To understand the ability of central office leaders to manage the “tension of leadership” in the change process: enabling and encouraging faculty members for their positive efforts while simultaneously recognizing the urgency and need for change.
