| Message from Your Executive Director | |
At MIEM we are in the final stages of the 2007-08 schedule to bring you programs that will help you achieve certification, programs that are mandatory such as OEAA and School Improvement Conferences, and other programs that you need to be effective and efficient in your position. As you begin to face the budget challenges and the changes like consolidation of services, please take time to visit the MIEM Website at www.gomiem.org, to help in getting the information you need to continue to serve, survive and grow. We are offering other programs to keep you up-to-date on legal and legislative and share with you best practices. A few programs in particular that you need to mark your calendar NOW are Creating A Culture of Data Quality on September 11, 2007 and the Nuts and Bolts of Consolidation and Collaboration of Services on September 17, 2007. The program on the 11th will help those responsible in your organization for reporting accurate data to the state. We have heard from many of our members that it is difficult to keep up with all the changes related to data submission. This session will provide helpful information on the latest requirements for reporting data correctly. It is important that we take responsibility for developing and maintaining a Culture of Data Quality. Another program that will be a MUST attend is the Nuts and Bolts of Consolidation and Collaboration of Services. By September 17, the legislature will have a good idea what consolidation means. Practical examples from local districts and ISDs will be shared. Registration will begin by mid-May. Last year we ventured into Webinars which allowed you to get training at your desk. MIEM has found that these Webinars have been very helpful. Evaluations have shown that the attendees would like us to offer more. This year we have added two MSBO certification classes on December 6. Also, we are working to provide on-demand training. Keep your eye on the MIEM Website, www.gomiem.org, for more information. Watch your mail for the 2007-08 membership dues invoice. These will be mailed in May. By paying your dues, you can save up to 25% off the price of a workshop. Once your dues are paid, anyone from your district will be able to attend at the member pricing. Dues must be paid prior to registering for programs to receive the special discount. Thank you for your time and your attendance at past programs. We are here to serve you and hope that we are meeting your needs by providing quality training and professional development programs. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at dpappas@gomasa.org. Sincerely, Your MIEM Executive Director Daniel G. Pappas |
